Jump Off the Cliff and Fly

“First you jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down.” – Ray Bradbury

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.” – Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

These similar quotes surely describe 2017 – A year of jumping, flailing, perseverance, and success!

Ten months ago I took the plunge and unveiled the Online School.  It was scary. What if no one signed on? What if they hated the courses? Don’t listen to those voices – they are lies.

Deep inside, I knew that this was the right thing to do. I pushed through the doubts – every day was a struggle.

Today, the school has exceeded 500 users, and is gaining new subscribers every day! There’s a life lesson in there somewhere.

I’m grateful to each and every member, and take seriously my role as an educator. It’s my job to meet the needs of the students and to provide tools and techniques that will enable members to create their own paintings and develop their own unique style.

Here’s what’s coming in 2018, based on student requests:

To Be Revealed in January – the most popular requests from members:

  • Techniques Tutorials: How to create fur, shading, drawing, shape, consistency, brush technique, etc.
  • How to create a pet portrait for a friend or customer – the entire process

New Courses

  • Domestic pets
  • Wildlife
  • Birds
  • I’ve also received requests for people portraits!

Tutoring

  • I’ll be offering one-on-one tutoring on a limited basis. More information to come.

Newest Opportunity: Annual Membership

The school already offers a monthly membership. $20. per month provides unlimited access to the entire library of courses, any time, day or night, and you can cancel at any time.

Now an annual membership is available to you, providing the same unlimited access for an entire year, with over 2 months free.

Many students have already taken advantage of this membership, and because of their trush, I’m motivated to create new, useful content based on your input.

The moral of today’s post: Great things take time. Never, ever give up.
